A real game from a real press box...

VisualSport managed to get two seats in the HJK's press box (total cost: 20 Euros) and we set office up to do the gamecast of the game between HJK and FC Inter. No, not the one from Milan. The other one, the one from Turku, Finland. But the colors are the same.

We checked for 3G coverage (we were at the Sonera Stadium, so you kind of expect to be full bars there, but you never know...) and WiFi.

All good to go.

We know that the app is easy to use and the stats are easy to be rendered by the gamecast, but this was the first time abroad, so to say and with a top league match from the press box.

Useless to say, it all went great (and please, don't think we are bragging... we are NOT).

App never froze (and it was 3 Celsius above, so fingers were kinda slow at punching data in...) and gamecast was really fast at refreshing. Not to brag about it, but the official Finnish League widget embedded on the HJK's official website took like 1-2 minutes longer than us to refresh.

If you want to know what happened, just check this link out:

Now we are going to work on a better looking and improved version of the gamecast to make it even more awesome, to improve the UX.

Several journalists asked us what we were doing and they were quite impressed by it.

We are going to talk to more coaches and media members in the upcoming days.

Now, if you excuse us, it is time rest for a while and... to thaw.

But stay tuned, because we might end up doing the webcast of the FC Inter's game tonight. Yes, the one from Milan this time.

From Helsinki, your VisualSport team.

Day 4 @StartupSauna: Vappu time!

Day 4 @StartupSauna has been quite hard-working.

It was great to spend all day with the coaches here; all of them found interesting points to move on in order to make our vision true: democratizing soccer stats.

We had to chance to focus our value proposition and customer segmentation working hard on refining our Business Model Canvas.

We really enjoyed to spend the rest of the day with a full-session on preparing some of the first commercial activities.

But...the most interesting stuff was about the culture and the business model behing some aspects of the amazing Vappu and the most amazing thing ever: the haalari.

Day 3 @StartupSauna: from pitching to the pitch ;)

Today was an another great day for all of us here in Finland!

We started making mistakes and better understanding why and how to pitch ideas.

This is the rule: "No pitch, no funding" ;)

Juha Ruohonen was really great in helping us in better shaping the message and it was also great to share our visions with the other teams.

After a learning-session, we moved into the real-world having the chance to pitch and meet with people from Infocomm Investments from Singapore and we think they're doing a great move in paying attention also to the European start-ups scene.

After pitching all day, we had a quite good Pizza and we spent time together helping each other in better shaping the message.

It's amazing to see how much passion in the air in willing to help!

But...the best moment of the day was a...real football pitch!

Captain Ville was great to involve us in the 1st game of the season of his team and we had the chance to test VisualSport once again with real users and we've been impressed by the awesome saves he did as a goalkeeper.

We learned that jailbreaken iPhone could not resist the low temperature here in Finland and could switch-off while tracking ;)

Anyway, have a look to the final result: http://www.visualsport.com/gamecast/show/uid/GU8X5A

Now...it's time to send emails and go sleep!

Stay tuned!

Day2 @ StartUp Sauna

As per Title...

Today was dedicated to two things...

Pitching and Team building...

Let's say that we can improve in both areas...

But it is a good thing... We do want to have honest feedback on what works and on what doesn't work... We need to deliver the best product possible so that fans and clubs have the best experience possible...

We are betting on the fact that people are passionate about sport...

And this is an easy bet to win...

Football in specific is something that stirs passions...

People can actually use something boring (stats) to win arguments, to taunt friends, brands can get more exposure and better engage their fans/ audience, coaches and talent evaluators will be able to better assess what kind of roster/ personnel they can work with...

We are confident that we are on the good path...

It is proven that if you have the right set of information you have already won half the battle...

We are just trying to empower people to win their own set of battles/ make the right decisions that will might be able to win a game/ score more money the next time you have to negotiate a contract/ you have to bet with a friend which team is going to win the game...

Time to rest...

Tomorrow is going to be even harder than today...

Milan Derby Has Just Ended

Il Principe scored the only goal needed for FC Inter to defeat AC Milan, to get the 3 points and to give a new hope to his side when it comes to still being in the hunt to win the scudetto.

On our end, this game gave us lots of inputs on a few things that still need to be ironed out and fixed.

But we are almost there...

And when we do get there, it is going to be fun.

Because at the end of the day, our goal is to put a tool into your hands that can allow you to share your games with your friends. A tool that is so good, that can be used for pro games and amateur ones alike.

How cool is that?

You are going to enjoy this little app.

A lot!

You might have needed Noah's Ark...

The referee in Catania tried to keep the game going.

Players wanted to keep playing, too.

But under a torrential rain, Mother Nature had some other plans.

Game was called because of the terrible conditions of the pitch, with 25 minutes to go and one goal apiece for each time.

The app, fresh of some minor tweaking and adjustments, did not failed and we can say we are pleased with the results.

The client is as solid as ever and we are sure that it would have resisted the inclement weather in Catania.

We are going to keep testing the app, to be sure that when we launch you guys have the best experience possible, in terms of tracking and sharing.

Tomorrow, another game: the Milan derby, at 845pm CET/ 245pm ET.

Stay tuned and feedbacks are welcome!
